The Japanese American Society of Minnesota works to promote trade between Minnesota and Japanese companies.  Here’s a bit about the event:

To further the Japan-Minnesota Partnership, JASM holds the Mondale Award and Scholarship Dinner every Fall. At this gala event, the Mondale Award for Japan-Minnesota Partnership and Mondale Scholarships are presented. The Mondale Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the building of understanding, cooperation and respect between the people of Japan and Minnesota. The Mondale Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in Minnesota colleges and universities who want to broaden their knowledge of Japan through a combination of study and travel. These awards are intended to both recognize and encourage the continued efforts to build a bridge between Japan and Minnesota.

Proceeds benefit the merit-based Mondale Scholarship Fund; every year the Fund supports two or more Minnesota undergraduates studying in Japan.

January 2014 – Arab Health

AH-LOGOILE attended Arab Health in Dubai in January 2014. This trade mission was sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

ILE met with representatives of the Middle East medical and life science community.  This was the 39th year for the Arab Health exposition and it’s the largest life science event in the Middle East. It annually offers Minnesota’s (and ILE’s clients – in Minnesota and beyond) manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors the opportunity to meet the medial and scientific community in the Middle East and beyond. ILE meets with it’s network of contacts from Europe, Asia and beyond.

The significance of this event is borne out by the following factoids:

* The Middle East healthcare sector is growing – with expected strong 5-year growth.
* Demand for healthcare in the Middle East will double by 2015
* As an example:  the UAE’ current pharmaceutical expenditures are $1.5 billion; Expenditures on medical devices tops $500 million; and healthcare costs have reached $8 billion.

The Middle East represents a growing opportunity for life science businesses, and ILE intends to be part of it and help clients with opportunities in this portion of the global market.
